I have played both high school and collegiate basketball. High school was great but in college I did not put in the work and was cut my sophomore year but it was a great experience.
I have coached basketball in Hampton roads (Newport News, Hampton, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Chesapeake, Virginia Beach, Suffolk,) for the last 17 years and have over 13 AAU Championships. I have trained  several  young men playing collegiate ball today most notably Darius James at Old Dominion University.
I have recently moved to San Antonio, and I am looking for players to represent basketball in San Antonio, while competing nationally.
In the Hampton roads area  we begin teaching basketball players not only how to play the game but how to prepare, and become students of the game at the age of 5. These players remain on the same team and play together throughout the entire year as they age and they advance together thus building a good nucleus with the coaches and achieve excellent team chemistry.  Basketball IQ is very important as well.  I believe, this is why 90% of the youth teams in Virginia are successful, just check the AAU website Boys and Girls Basketball.
If you don't know about Boo Williams then you have not played AAU basketball on a National level, check him out @ boowilliamsbball.com and click on boys alumni and girls alumni and you'll see the kind of athletes that have been a part of the Hampton Roads AAU legacy ( A.I., alonzo, jj redick, ronald curry, michael vick, jr reid, etc.)
I want to give kids that truly love the game of basketball the same opportunities that all of the above have had by competing in official AAU sanctioned tournaments with exposure to recruits.
With the exception of teams such as the RoHawks and Gata, Until recently No teams in this area have competed in an official AAU  National tournament in over ten years with the exception of West Coast Nationals which you don't have to qualify.  Just pay $600 and your in.  I have checked and there hasn't been a Texas district qualifier held here in over 10 years. Nor has there been sanctioned warm up games.
Since arriving in San Antonio I have connected with an organization that shares the same principles that I am accustomed to being affiliated with in VA.  The TEXAS TIGERS under the direction of Coach AC Hood and Jair Erickson have the right mission and vision for youth basketball.
I bring to San Antonio my (UIL Certification, NCAA Certification, NYSCA, NFHS(National federation of high school coaches, Red Cross, Bob Knight Coaches certification and lot more certifications from coaching clinics) and my love and passion for teaching the game of basketball to all young athletes not just the privileged.
